Al & his wife, Roxie, have been an integral part of the Country Cuzzins since 1994 until he became ill in Sept. 2008 and was forced to retire for health reasons. They started square dancing in 1971 in North Carolina. He started calling in 1971 or 1972 immediately after graduating class.
He has called in several countries including England for 2 years with the Plymouth Steppers, in Okinawa for 2 different clubs- The Rice Paddy Promendaders and the Red Hots. And a direct quote from Al regarding his square dance calling career "The year I got the award for being the 2nd best looking Caller in the U.S. was my crowning achievement."
