SQUARE DANCING BASIC ETIQUETTE
1.The use of alcoholic beverages prior to or during a square dance is not a permissible practice.
2.Your hand grip should be reasonable but not tight.
3. Men, remember that you have strength and weight advantage over the ladies so handle them gently.
4. Listen to the caller. Talking while dancing can cause you or someone else to miss the call.
5.Remember that once upon a time you were a beginner. Dance with those less experienced.
6.Show your support by volunteering for club activities. Particpate in community events such as nursing homes, Lion's Pancake Breakfast, etc.
7.Be committed to dancing regularly. You'll become more skilled, and you and those you dance with will benefit.

SQUARE DANCING TIPS
Handhold: Hold hands with the dancer standing beside you immediately after the completion of the call. Man's palm up, lady's palm down.
Dance step: Should be a smooth, effortless gliding step in which the ball of the foot touches and slides across the surface of the floor before the heel is gently dropped to the floor. The stride should be fairly short with the movement coming mostly from the knees down.
Forearm hold: The arms are held past the wrist but not past the elbow point. Each dancer places the hand on the inside of the arm of the person with whom he is to work.
Handshake: Use a comfortable handshake with hands reached and touched at about waist height. Thumb should overlap the back of the opposite dancer's hand. Remember, gently shake hands.
Posture: Dancers should stand erect and tall, shoulders back.
Passing: Whenever you pass through with someone, always pass right shoulders.
Eye contact: Eye contact with your partner will add to your dancing pleasure.
Beat of the music: Take each step to the beat of the music.
Breakdowns: When your square breaks down, go back to your original square position and have the head couples slide to the right to form normal facing lines of four with each lady to the right of the man.
Help: Come to the workshop and ask the caller to help with a call you do not understand.
