I was born in Biloxi, Mississippi the second of 4 girls. We are all within 5 years of each other with the last two being twins. Dad was in the Air Force so we lived in Alabama, California, Missouri, Washington DC, and Texas where he retired. I graduated from McArthur High School in San Antonio and the University of Texas in Austin with a BS in fashion merchandising and design. I went to work in Austin for a retail dept. store and was transferred to Houston, Beaumont, Kingsville, then finally on to San Antonio. My only daughter, Elizabeth was born in San Antonio and hubby and I were ready to leave the big city. We moved to Marble Falls because we liked the area and he could drive his golf cart in the streets! I started substitute teaching, golfing, and co-teaching Elizabeth as she was in Faith Academy, the private school in Marble Falls. Later I hired on as a para- professional at the high school helping in the integrated physics and chemistry classes. When my daughter was a senior in high school I decided to get my teacher certification to help finance her college. I reluctantly accepted a job with the special needs children during the summer because that was all there was available to me at the time. Well, after one summer I fell in love with the kids and chose that over the math job available in the fall. And…here I am still at it and still loving it! I lost my husband on my daughter’s birthday when she was a freshman in college. She says it’s very special that they share that day together. She joined the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M and graduated in 2013. She went to explore the world and now resides happily in Hawaii. She already has had 2 families visit with more lined up! With the nest empty, I wanted something fun to do with my time and you guessed it…square dancing!!
